PIP review still taking a long time. was created by mario
I have been getting Pip since 2014 my condition is permanent. The review forms were sen on the 26th October 2021 but it’s been three months now still no action has been taken. It’s so annoying when ever I have rang them up they come up with excuses and my award is going to run out in February 2022. I have read loads of feedback here that apparently they have had their reviews looked at within 7 days and reawarded with more benefit and this very unfair. I think there is biasness even towards race and religion because it seems as though there is some sort of discrimination. Most people on here who have had their reviews back have had it very quick and that is something that is very weird! As a south Asian I have had this issue even when going into work it was so hard getting work etc because of unfair employment opportunities and I think the dwp are being unfair too regardless of any back log I don’t care it’s about the principles. Why would my review take 3 months when they hold all exhaustive evidence and information to make a very quick decision and outcome. Really not fair tbh and I don’t know why our case would be any different .

Hi Mario,
It is very frustrating that decisions take such a time. At present it seems completely random as to how long these will take. I understand that you feel this might be due to discrimination I would very doubt this. For example I helped a severely disabled lady who is white British with her PIP renewal. The form went off in early August. It was only last week that she got her decision. She didn't need to have an assessment. So, if you might need an assessment I guess it could take even longer still.
I suggest you phone DWP and ask them fir an update. This can also help remind them they are taking a long time. Tell them your award expires in February and could they either expedite or extend the current award. Phone them again in a week or so if you don't get any proper response. I think it is just a case of keeping trying.
You could write a letter of complaint, headed Complaints Team and set out all the delays and times you have phoned and the lack of explanation provided and ask for the matter to be expedited in view of the impending end of claim. That might help.
Good luck. Keep us informed of how you get on.

I submitted my review form in September. I have rung the DWP this afternoon (not for the first time) and after being on hold for 45 minutes spoke to a lady who said that new claims are being prioritised over reviews. When I asked how much longer I would have to wait, she said she had no idea, but I will still continue to receive my PIP, so it’s not a problem. It is a problem, when you don’t know from one week to the next what is happening with your review, but as ever, the DWP just doesn’t seem to understand this.

Having returned from the EU and in receipt of DLA middle rate care, I decided to ask for PIP and to be assessed for mobility. Before leaving to live abroad I was in receipt of Mobility but of course lost this. A PIP form was completed in April 2020. A phone assessment was carried out week beginning 9th August. A decision was promised within 8 weeks. I am still awaiting a decision. I telephoned the DWP in November and was told that new PIP claims come first because I am in receipt already mine will be decided in time.
Has anyone been waiting this long or longer?

My wife sent her review form in about the same time as Mario - late October. I phoned DWP today, and spoke to someone who was extremely helpful (!) - the current target is 8 weeks, and they couldn't understand why my wife's hadn't been looked at.
Upon checking they found that the case manager appears to be about 2-3 weeks behind their target time, so I was advised that we should hear in the next 2-4 weeks. (I'm not holding my breath though!)

I returned my pip review back in June last year 2021, it runs out at end of February. My citizens advice helper has ring on two occasions fort me and has no date but been told they know it's in the system but it hasn't been handled by anyone yet. They said payments would continue if it gets to end of February and my review hasn't been assessed by someone.
