Contribution based ESA was created by g7ivp
Hello All,
My wife currently gets Contribution Based ESA and PIP because of a genetic condition inherited from her mother. It is disabling, progressive, there is no cure but it is not terminal.
When she reaches pension age, 66 in her case, I believe the PIP will continue but will the Contribution Based ESA be stopped?
Thank you in anticipation.

Yes you are correct, when your wife reaches state pension age her CB ESA will stop.
PIP will carry on, if your wife is not in receipt of mobility component or only receives the standard component when she reaches SP age then the mobility component of PIP cannot be increased or awarded if she is not in receipt of this component.

Thank you.
Sadly, my wife does get enhanced care and mobility due to her condition.

Yes I would agree with you, it is a mixed message.
Depending on both of your circumstances, you may be eligible to claim PCG: www.gov.uk/pension-credit/eligibility.
I would seek help from your local Welfare Rights Organisation to maximised your income depending on your circumstances; You can find your local Welfare Rights Organisation to help you with advice by clicking on the link below and putting in your post code, it will then come up with a MAP with a list of agencies. advicelocal.uk
