Is it o.k to put this on PIP review was created by traceytracey
Hi,
I am trying to help my daughter with her PIP review (she suffers full blown epilepsy with no warning) and wondered if it would be o.k to put this on review form?

Please take on board.

]A lot of stuff was missed on my initial claim, especially with social support (please see additional information) because of my levels of anxiety I chose to accept what I was awarded and I was very grateful for that, but can I just ask you to take on board whilst reading my claim, that everything I do has a risk of harm due to seizures with no warning and I believe that because of this it is reasonable to assume that I would require supervision during these activities.

The first bit about anxiety is because they said she could talk to people on the phone then she was o.k, therefore no points for mixing with other people. I have argued that the question states "face to face" and that my daughter can't socialise with strangers because of fear of having a seizue, they would not be able to read her body language to know if she was going to fit. I have also printed a copy of the letter example on the members guides regarding needng social support.

Any advice gratefully recieved :)

Hi TraceyTracey

I wouldn't use the term, please take on board, because I think it sounds a bit wishy-washy and you don't want that. (Just a personal view). I would use: Important Additional Information (if it's going in question 15) and then just lay it out as you have done so below (without the gratitude sentence). It's right to say why she didn't appeal - and that's because of the anxiety. (Don't sound as if they were doing her a big favour - she was entitled to it!).

Dear traceytracey, if I have understood correctly, you are helping your daughter complete the form. As such it may also be worth stating clearly that you have completed the form for her/helped her with [x number] of sections/written it out for her, or whatever you are doing. This will help avoid 'them' assuming she is more capable that she really is. I know there has been more detailed advice on this in old threads, I am sure if you need it the Mods might help find it or give it again.

Best wishes esp as I too have a close family member with epilepsy that was unstable for many years. I know just what you mean about body language pre-fit, but that didn't even apply every time, I wish we could have had a seizure detection dog...

Hi traceytracey, you could probably send such a comment as an addition; at any rate be ready to make it very clear at the start of any assessment, see recent comment that health 'professionals' doing assessments are supposed to listen to relevant comments from supporters...hope the wait isn't too awful,

Hi Denby,

Yes I may do that, I think the wait maybe a while as her award ends september.

I have no idea how she will cope with an assesment, her first one was basically paper based (as during Covid) and she just had one call asking if she needed help whilst in a room fulll of strangers, she totally misunderstood the question and just thought they ment physically. to lift her off the floor :( .
All we can do is wait and see :)

Thanks for your help :)
