Hi tracet tracey, your comment triggered a question in my head, a lot of people with epilepsy [like my OH] are also 'on the spectrum'. Has anyone ever thought your daughter could have autism/asperger's too? So often when medics have labelled a person with one diagnosis they don't think to look for an additional one. An easy check is the AQ50 found online.
If she were to be in this situation it could definitely explain that misunderstanding. And help you fill in forms even more effectively as there would be a reason for some of her difficulties.
best wishes,
Denby

Hi Denby,
Thank you for that, to be fair it is not something I have thought about. I will go and find the AQ50 and have a look.
Thank you

You're most welcome traceytracey. Being on the spectrum is particularly underdiagnosed in females, as the female hormones allow the brain to show more empathy and better 'fake' 'normal' reactions being able to observe and copy these, thereby learning 'how to behave' more than males. This can be a problem in getting a diagnosis too, as not all professionals are aware of this complicating factor.
A very useful source of books to borrow from your library or buy for yourself for anyone interested in the spectrum adults children or young people is Jessica Kingsley Publishers. Regrettably not even the leading London NHS hospital who diagnosed my husband thought to suggest these books. It was a private counsellor who did so.
Best wishes,
