After being told by a letter last year my review would not be until December the dreaded brown envelope has dropped through my letter box. Again it’s taken a more than week to get here as it was dated 29th Jan. they want it back by the 22nd Feb. It feels like my stomach has fallen out of me. Having tried to read it through a few times I’ve come to the conclusion I’d rather stick pins in my eyes than go through this form. It feels that every question is there to trip you up so the can either lower or stop the benefit. I feel physically sick, I’m shouting at people that don’t deserve it and I know I shouldn’t be doing it. I can’t help it. You hear all the time of the shocking results that these so called health professionals come up with……..it’s a living hell.

Hi Kayla

I know it's frightening, but try and go through it just one question at a time. You will find advice in the Guide to PIP Claims and Reviews from page 124. It is true that there are some awful assessors who do appear to try and trick people - but you don't tend to hear about the positive experiences that some people have. So if you can, try to work through it.

Hi Kayla, just to let you know that I had a pip review last summer and had a paper based assessment without asking for it and got a result that I considered fair in 3 weeks. Sometimes these things go well and you may well be one of those people.

Take it one question at a time and do a little bit every day giving as much detail as you can . If you feel you need more time then it is ok to ring and ask for an extension. They regularly give 2 week extensions to return the form which may take the pressure off you a little.

All good wishes to you that you get the correct result

Dear Kayla, there is a sure-fire way to deal with deceitful assessors should you be unlucky enough to get one. Record them! Ignore any promise in any assessment notification that you can ask on the day, it's not true. Just put in your form that you will require the assessment to be recorded, notify the assessment provider the same immediately they send your booking. And follow the guidance mentioned in the Newsletter to record it yourself as backup. Doing a recording was the key factor in overturning a report with lies, omissions and twistings on our daughter. Ask for the report 48 hours or when texted, whichever comes first, afterwards. Do come back here for all the support you need, there are very many folk reading who feel just as you do. Sending strength,
Denby

Thank you those who have replied.
I take on board exactly what you and have tried my best with the help of my partner to type down, as both our handwriting is terrible, the answers as best as I can think they want. There is not a lot more to add in the questions we have done so far, and the additions seem only to say what I have said before in my original form. This will be the third day of trying, yesterday I just couldn’t face it. The feeling of thinking they just don’t believe what I’m saying for what ever reason is carved firmly in my head. You can see a broken arm as it has plaster on it, you can’t see a for want if a better phrase a bad back and painful legs. I get so frustrated an emotional at the sight of this bloody form. We kept a copy of the form that originally went in. Is it worth while sending in a copy of that form or not. I also read through what the assessor at capita wrote down and even though I was satisfied with my award I had totally forgot the inaccuracies. Now I’m wondering that now I’m up for reassessment that the case manager or assessor will read this and use parts of it against me. Which ever way I look I’m looking at confusion and I’m scared to death in all honesty. I just want to give myself the best chance of staying as I was so i can stop feeling like crap even more than I do normally.

Hi kayla

Look at the review as if it is a new application, as BIS has stated in this post, do one question at a time, when you feel stressed stop. If you need more time you can contact DWP before you are out of time and ask for an extension.

The boxes are smaller on the review form so if you need more space use a seperate piece of paper, make sure that any extra pages you use are numbered and have your name and National Insurance Number on them.

No it's not worth sending in the original form but you can use the original form as a template especially where there has been no change in your circumstances, if there has been a change then explain what the changes are and what affect they have on you.
