PIP and Blue Badge running out was created by davis
Hi
I have looked all over the net and legislation's and found nothing so here i am.
I get the blue badge as the points in the pip i get it automatically
my blue badge runs out march and my PIP i have no clue they keep changing dates.now the blue badge people say that PIP runs out in June.
The last time i renewed the blue badge they told me that i would have to be awarded PIP for 3 years or no blue badge. i only had this blue badge a year yet they still gave it to me even though the PIP would run out in under a year..
So if my pip has not run out but it runs out a few months after the blue badge am i still eligible for the blue badge if so for how long

Hi davis,
Whilst getting PIP mobility can be an automatic route for a blue badge, ie just tick the 'I have PIP box' in the form and no further questions. However, you can still obtain a blue badge without PIP or an equivalent benefit, but in this case you will need to complete the whole blue badge form.
I don't know about how your local council applies the blue badge rules. I suspect that there may have been some leeway due to Covid and delays in doing PIP extensions. Of course it may also depend on your disability and whether this is permanent or not.
So as long as you still fall within the general criteria as opposed to the automatic qualification via PIP I wouldn't worry. If the automatic renewal fails then you may have to fill out the long form, but should still be able to get your blue badge. This is the link to the gov.uk website.

I hope this helps.

I get a blue badge even though I only have lower mobility of D.L.A. My G.P. has helped me with the form. I do not even drive a car any more, but use it when I am out with my son in his car. Hang on to your PIP mobility if you can. I am 75 and my mobility has truly deteriorated, unfortunately cannot get any more for mobility because of age and certainly do not want the bother of applying for a change of circumstances with a supersession (sp?)
