PIP review decision - How to request decision maker's report? was created by Faith
Hello,
1. I have received the DWP's decision concerning my PIP review. With my form I included a 9 page report from my social worker which stated, several times, that I need physical help with personal care, but the DWP has NOT awarded me ANY points for physical assistance. They have only awarded me points for prompting. I don't understand how they could completely ignore the social worker's report, which detailed why I need physical assistance?
2. I want to request a copy of the decision maker's report, which explains WHY they selected these particular descriptors, but I don't know the name of that report? I really hope someone can tell me what document/s to request, in order to discover the basis for the DWP's decision?
Many thanks, in advance, for any advice X

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Faith
The report you can request is the assessor's report. This is a PA4. It is this report that the decision-maker uses to make the decision. You should then have a clearer idea of why the decision has been made - though obviously, you're not likely to agree with it. You should be able to also see what paperwork they used to make the decision and you may find that the social worker's report was not included. If this is the case you can point it out if you put in for a mandatory reconsideration.

Hi BIS,
Thank you so much for your hugely helpful reply!
Is the PA4 the PIP equivalent of the ESA85A?
Are there any other documents I could request or is it just the PA4, for PIP? I did not have an interrogation (by Atos etc) this time.
Many thanks,
All best wishes

Hi Faith
Yes, the PA4 - is the only document and yes it is equivalent to the ESA report.

Hi Faith, hoping you will put in an MR. Just want to check you are aware of the one-month time limit. All you need is in the Guides. If you chance to phone for your PA4 and get a stroppy call agent, just politely end the call and try another, less stress than arguing with them. If it is short before the deadline by the time you have the PA4 delivered, you can send a provisional style MR, saying you will send more evidence shortly and please do not begin considering until they get it.
Best wishes, Denby

Hi BIS,
Thank you so much!
I called the PIP team this morning and was told that I would receive the PA4 in a week or two.
All best wishes
