Hi SueB

You can backdate your claim by up to 3 months. www.gov.uk/carers-allowance/how-to-claim

Hi SueB,
If you are already caring for someone for at least 35 or more hrs a week, and fall within the earnings requirements at all time, and the person you care for has now received PIP daily living or equivalent
then if you wish to claim Carer’s Allowance this should be back dated to when the PIP etc is backdated to. (This could be several months longer than 3 mths if the PIP claim has taken a long time to sort.) You would need to make your claim within 3 months of the relevant PIP award being granted.
I hope this helps.
