PIP Review Response Time was created by Darren Yates
I submitted my PIP Award Review in May last year, and I’ve heard nothing since. Due to some changes In my health, I explained this and sent off the additional evidence eg letters, stronger medication etc.

In Aug/Sept 2021, I contacted Pip and they confirmed that they had the form but it was still waiting to be looked at - and It shouldn’t be too long.

At the start of December 2021, I contacted Pip again to see if there was an update. The advisor put me through to one of the decision makers who explained to me that it’s awaiting assessment.

It’s now the middle of February 2022 and I’ve still heard nothing. Last week, I contacted Capita Who carried out my last assessment and spoke to a lovely lady. She told me that the last assessment for me was in 2019, and they’ve had nothing else sent over to them.

So I just don’t know what to do because my Pip runs out at the end of March. It’s the knock on effect of blue badge, car etc. I know people who sent there form off in October and have been awarded … yet I sent mine off in May and I’m still none the wiser. Any suggestions what to do next?

Thanks for your help. X

Hi Fibrodaz

I'm sorry this has been such a long time for you. I understand your worry that your award is soon to end. I would get onto your MP and see if they will intervene. Some MPs have been very helpful and successful in encouraging the DWP to hurry cases along.

Hi my pip is due to end 12th March. I called pip enquiry line last week who confirmed my review form is still waiting to be dealt with but award has been extended to June and to call back end of May if still no decision and it will be extended again. So stressful but I would give them a call.

Hi i'm in exactly the same boat as you find yourself in. Mine too runs out in march this year. As you say it's a knock on effect ie blue badge , car.

My council will not accept just seing the scored points for pip mobility award. They want to see a date ie an expiry date as to when your pip ends. So I cannot get a blue badge not until a decision has been finally made on my pip renewal ( now been almost 9 months). And even if dwp say we will extend it for a month r so and keep doing that, it means my council will want 10 quid for every month to get a new badge. Which is just not worth it. One can go down the other route via their local council, but i found its too much stress having to get all your evidence once again to satisfy the council needs.

This whole performance has wore me down and im left totally in a state of permanent stress and anxiety. I know im not alone many other on here are in the same boat.

What I can't understand is! if dwp are so bogged down with new pip claimants how many i do not know, could be in the 100's of thousands, then surely it's sensible, and practical, and also humane to park up the already claimants until they get sorted through a huge load of new pip cases. And simply send out each claimant a letter saying that the claimants decisions will be looked when they get through the backlog completely of new claimants. Guess it's all about them causing us more stress, illness etc.

Hi MrFibro,

I get your frustration with the system but, regarding the blue badge application I know it is possible to obtain a blue badge even when you are not receiving nor have claimed for any benefits.

It is worth just sending in the same evidence of your disability to the local council as you sent to the DWP. I know it’s a pain but it does take the DWP out of that loop.

Regards
Pete

Hi there,

.......As BIS says, MP's, in spite of their sometimes bad reputions, are usually very eager to score 'brownie points' when it comes to chasing things up with the DWP.

I've done this more than once and it definitely has an impact on the speed of the review time and quite often has a positive effect on the result.

I wouldn't hestitate to contact your MP.

It's simple, if you use the internet. Just type into google 'contact my MP' and the page will come up where you put in your postcode and then you are directed straight to their email. Also add any documents, by way of attachments, to the email that you consider of importance to your case.

Good luck.

Regards,

Phrank.
