Hi Wigster82
I would contact the motability scheme and see if you can keep your existing car until after you have been reviewed, just explain what is happening, they maybe accommodating.
PIP reviews are usually sent out anywhere between 6 months and a year before the current claims runs out. So you could be sent a PIP review at any time.
Depending on your condition, you could contact DWP to see when your review form will be sent out.
I am not sure by what you mean 'do I have to update to get PIP longer'. If you PIP runs out Feb 2023 then yes you will have to review your claim to get PIP longer.

Hi, many Motabilty customers are unaware because they keep it quiet, if you phone and explain some reason why you would like to have your car for more that 3 years, you can persuade them to extend. Genuine reasons we have used twice included moving house [ie just too busy to choose new car] and problems finding a suitable replacement. This is advantageous to you if you are happy with the car, as you do not have to cough up a new down payment if your needs mean you can't use a small nil-down-payment car. They have to pay for the MOTs and of course tendency for the car to need more maintenance.
Wheelchair accessible vehicles [WAVs] are leased for 5 years as standard due to the higher cost.
Hope this may help, I think they won't extend past the PIP date but you should be able to get it at least that far. MY OH has lifetime DLA being born pre 1948 so I haven't tested this myself.
