Partner moving in. Affect on ESA was created by craig3474
Hi, on my DWP letters, it states that i am entitled to Contribution and Income related ESA with SG element. I have checked my National Insurance record and I have 27 years of full contributions to date.

When my partner eventually comes to live with me, will their earnings affect my ESA as I'm unsure if I'm receiving CB based or IR, although all my correspondence from the DWP says both. Im hoping i would be entitled and continue CB , as partner earning wont affect my benefit.

A welfare advisor informed me to keep hold of these letters, encase i have to argue to the DWP, that i am entitled to CB when my partner eventually resides with me.

Thanks as always

Hi cj3474

When your partner moves in then you will more than likely loose any means tested benefits such as IR ESA and any premiums you may claim such as SDP and EDP. You will keep your CB ESA and support premium.

I would advise you to seek help from your local Welfare Rights Organisation, who will be able to take all your circumstances into consideration. You can find your local Welfare Rights Organisation to help you with advice by clicking on the link below and putting in your post code, it will then come up with a MAP with a list of agencies. advicelocal.uk
