ESA Activity (awareness of hazards) was created by craig3474
Hi guys, i wanted some advice regarding this descriptor and medication.

Could this activity include 'reduced awareness' of taking medication (i.e. taking too much or less) due to significantly impaired concentration and attention, due to fatigue, depression and unpleasant affects from medication (dizziness, sleepiness, impairs concentration), thereby somebody would need supervision to give the correct dosages and the correct times? A overdose surely would be a significant risk, but would medication fall under 'hazard'?

Thanks as always

Hi cj3474,
I have copied the relevant passage from wcainfo.net which is a website that proves info and caselaw about ESA. Supervision for medicine would not come under this section, which is unlike PIP. The ESA activities are designed to represent the sort if things you might need to be able to do to work, including getting to work.

Activity 12 is defined in regulations as -

"Awareness of everyday hazards (such as boiling water or sharp objects).
Activity 12 assesses the ability to recognise risks from common hazards. A descriptor may be satisfied if there is a lack of understanding and insight that something is dangerous, or there is an impaired ability to recognise that a situation will present a potential hazard."

I hope this helps.
