Do I appeal ? was created by Billy22
Hi Up until my pip review at the end of last year I received standard pip care (11 points ) And standard care ( 8 points . Four for guidance and four for walking ). I suffer with spinal osteoarthritis and severe anxiety and depression. Result in renewal was no change in points totals but I lost the four points for needing guidance but was given eight for walking. I asked for a MR and gained an extra point for my back care needs. No change in mobility. But now enhanced for care which was pleasing. However, I was annoyed to have lost the four points for guidance which had previously been awarded at a tribunal. I can see that a gap in my evidence may have lead to this. Given my mental health problems I like the rest of us could well do without going to tribunal. Should I accept and be grateful for what I have or should I try and get the four points back at a tribunal ? Grateful for any thoughts.

Hi Billy22

Only you can decide what to do - you know your case and we don't. The question you might want to ask yourself is - "would the four points lead to an increased award?" If they don't then you have to ask yourself - "Is it worth me fighting for points that will not give me more money?" If you decide it isn't worth the fight - you can always put at the next review that you disagreed with the assessment last time, but didn't have the energy to appeal and then make the case for the four points that had previously been awarded. Plenty of people disagree with parts of their award but don't argue if the actual award is what they want - but this is a decision each person has to make for themselves.
