Hi everyone, I am in the process of doing change of circumstances and after a bit of advice please. I have severe osteoarthritis and nerve damage also a herniated disc and spondylitis in my neck, over the years I have bought different aids to help myself in day to day living also I have been given some by the hospital, my question is should I send in photo evidence of these aids or would it go against me as it helps me some days. Not sure what to do as I’ve heard conflicting things be grateful for some advice.

Hi Michael

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is.

Welcome to Benefits and Work

When you are completing your PIP form you should mention the aids you use, you also need to add WHY you need to use them. Check out our guide to help you complete the PIP form, it talks about aids and adaptions; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

If you have any further questions, please come back to the forum.

Hi Michael,
I guess that if the aid is a fairly mainstream one, there is probably no need to send a picture unless you want. DWP should be aware. Do you have any letters etc from the hospital saying you needed the gadgets, if do that would definitely be useful. Do you have obvious disabilities, if so a picture of eg arthritic hand might also help. If your disability gadgets are unusual or specialist then a photo might help.
I hope this helps.
