Mandatory Reconsideration after 0 points awarded

Hi All,

I have been reading through some other posts in the forum so I have some ideas already but I wanted to post to get some specific advice for my situation.

I got my letter telling me that i was awarded 0 points on 28th February and today is the first day I've been able to get myself to work on this and figure out what I need to do. The letter I received has a couple of sides explaining how they made that decision and it's all rubbish. It seems like the assessor has only paid attention to what was said during my phone assessment rather than the form which i spent hours and hours writing all of the things i could with considerable support from a friend.

In my case is it worth sending out for the assessor's report (PA4) now or should I just work with what I have as i'm running out of days to get the Mandatory Reconsideration letter to them?

Hi Max

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is.

Welcome to Benefits and Work

You do need a copy of the assessors report (PA4) so that you can see what the assessor has written in order to apply for a MR or Appeal.

You have a decision makers letter which usually relies on the assessors report in making a decision, so you do need to see what the assessor has written.

You have one month from the date on the decision letter to apply for a Mandatory Reconsideration, which can either be made over the phone or by letter. You can initially use the decision makers letter to base your MR on.

If you do it by phone you can inform the call handler that you are waiting for the assessors report to complete your MR, they usually give you 4 weeks to supply further supporting documents.
