ESA Support Group -deducted from UC? was created by Tuppence
Hello, I am a new member who is thrilled to have discovered this website!
I have just been placed in the ESA Support Group following WC assessment, and also awarded the LWCRA element of UC. Will these now be deducted from my monthly UC award? I noticed the assessment rate of ESA was deducted. Is it a case of given in one hand, taken away by the other?
(I was turned down for PIP, but have requested a MR and sent in a copy of my ESA award letter in the hope it may help).
Many thanks in advance!

Hi Tuppence
Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is.
Welcome to Benefits and Work
Yes you are correct, most benefits what you get in one hand they take away from the other.
Your ESA will be taken into consideration when you apply for UC, Now that you are placed in LCWRA this will give you an additional element of £343.63 pm.
If you are successful with your PIP MR then this would not be taken into consideration, it is a win win. PIP does not negatively affect your benefits, in some situations it can give you extra benefits and is paid tax free.
Don't forget to check our guides to help you with a MR; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip
