problems going out with physical conditions was created by Chlorinated
Hi
Can you please explain in a person can get points for going out in the following scenario.
If somebody has frequent incontinence and they wet or soil themselves when outside. Obviously nobody with such a condition would ever want to go out and this would be extremely humiliating.
However the person still goes out because there’s nobody helping doing their shopping and obviously they might need to do essential shopping. But if someone did help the person would obviously not be going out.
In such a case where the person had a physical condition and is managing to do the activity as nobody is helping, but is also being humiliated and disgraced in the most embarrassing ways causing shame to themselves and affecting society,
Can this person score points for going out? If so I’m what basis?
Thanks

Hi Chlorinated
Suffering from incontinence does not come into play with the going out activity, question 5 deals with incontinence.
The Going Out activity looks at three things.
Planning a route - this is primarily a cognitive or sensory (e.g. blindness) activity. You are being asked about the problems you would have with working out how to get from one place to another, you do not need to be able to follow the route that you are planning.
Undertaking a Journey - this is to do with mental health issues such as agoraphobia and social anxiety and is concerned with you leaving the house to go somewhere, they will be interested in the things that stop you doing this. You need to show that you would suffer "overwhelming psychological distress" to meet the criteria.
Following a route - This activity about the problems you would have navigating a route. So are there any problems; cognitive, sensory or mental health issues that would prevent you from doing this? This is different from undertaking a journey, in fact, if you cannot undertake a journey then you will not score points for following one and vice versa.
Do you reasonably fit any of these criteria?
