Carers Allowance Claim was created by Andri
Hello

I am currently claiming carers allowance for my son and have a question in relation to PIP. I hace recently been diagnosed with a condition of FND and are thinking of applying for PIP, but I am not sure how this will effect the carers allowance?

Thank You

Hi Bonnie You can claim for PIP when you have had your condition for three months and if you expect it to continue for at least nine months afterwards (which you obviously will with FND). There are many people who claim PiP for themselves as well as carers allowance for a relative. You may be asked to prove that you can still continue to offer the care to your son even though you need assistance yourself. Some people successfully have both benefits and some people do find they lose their carers allowance if their own condition is considered too severe to fulfil the hours laid down for the carers allowance.
