Telephone assessment for UC on Wednesday was created by Becky
Hi
I have just finished completing additional information for my PIP claim to send off for my mandatory reconsideration. Not only has this worsened my anxiety and ocd, I now have a telephone assesssment on wednesday for UC.
I kept telling my work coach i should probably be in the support group and she kept saying I should have recieved a questionnaire, which I said I have never had a form.
I have just rang the number on the form re the appointment and they have told me they sent a form in october ....however i asked what addredss and they sent to to the address UC had provided them with which was my old address!
Any advice.....it feels so unfair that i have just spent +30 hours adding in information for PIP (because i didnt fill the form in enough details originally as assumed it was same as DLA whihc i used to claim) over last few weeks to now have to go through all the descriptors for and another guide all about UC (ps i appreciate these guides massively!, i just feel i couldve done with a big break before this appointment wednesday as im actually feel like im going to come down with something through all the extra stress and anxiety feeling feverish) PS I used to recieve ESA and was in the support group afew years back and recieved for 6 years.
Even thought about pretending i had a hospital appointment because i need a break so badly (i am currently under the hopsital for an unassociated health problem).
thanks

Hi Becky
I'm sorry that you are going through a stressful time. It so often happens that people find themselves having to fill in forms or being assessed for two benefits within a short timescale.
It is very late, but you can cancel your appointment on Wednesday. You don't have to pretend you have an appointment, you can simply say that you are not well enough. However, be warned, you will be offered another interview and you will have to take whatever date you are offered regardless of whether it is convenient to you and if you didn't take part you run the risk of your claim being closed.
I don't know whether you asked for your assessment to be recorded. If you haven't - you should do so on Monday. It's not always the case, but sometimes they don't have assessors who are willing to be recorded and then they cancel the appointment. It's not a given, but if you're desperate it might be an opportunity to give you more time.
Sorry, that I can't suggest anything better.
