Hi,
If I claim  carers allowance for my wife as advised will it be classed as a change of circumstances of my DLA middle rate award and have to claim PIP?

Kindest Regards

Hi DAVE MAY,
Quick answer no! Nothing in law prevents you getting Carer’s Allowance with DLA or PIP.
A change of circumstances means a deterioration or improvement in health that means you need more or less help with the various DLA or PIP activities.
However whilst legally there is no problem please be aware that DWP often feel that Carer’s Allowance is incompatible with DLA and/ or PIP. If you are claiming DLA this shows you can't care for yourself properly, so you can understand why DWP could question why you are then saying you can care for another. It does rather depend on the sort of disabilities both you and your wife have. You can claim both benefits but I would urge caution.
I hope this helps.
