PIP Appeal - Heading for Tribunal Hearing – Mobility award level – Mental Health

I was awarded PIP Daily Living HR and Mobility SR last October 2021

I submitted a request for a Mandatory Reconsideration for the Mobility award level to be raised to HR. Turned down March 2022.

Citizens Advice today submitted my Appeal and my advisor says I'll be heading to a Tribunal (:S) some time in the next 3-4 months. Apparently that's a drop in the waiting time at the height of Covid lockdown when it was 15-18 months wait.

Have also submitted short supporting statements from my PAs and advocates – neither of which I had at the time of my original application, nor my MR submission.

I wonder how much money and time the DWP wastes in dragging people through this grim process. The DWP Decision Maker who turned down my MR even noted in her decision that a DWP's Visiting Officer found me struggling to even open the front door when she collected my initial PIP2 form, ffs. (I didn't even know the VO had told them this). Which alone should have been proof of the necessity for the HR Mobility award, as I struggle to even leave the house unaided but here we are...

Will update as the journey progresses, just in case useful to others.

Awarded UC-LCWRA, and PIP all via paper-based Assessment. PIP: DL (HR); Mob (SR) – Oct 2021. MR for Mob to be raised to HR: Unsuccessful – Mar 2022 Pending: Appealed unsuccessful MR. Now awaiting Tribunal Hearing date – April 2022

Hi Raph

Good luck with your appeal. I hope it comes through as quickly as has been suggested. I think there have been variations across the country.
