HI GUYS, THANKS FOR THE GREAT WORK YOU DO, I GOT THE DREADED BROWN ENVELOPE TODAY ( I THOUGHT THEY HAD CHANGED HEM TO WHITE" I IM GOING THROUGH IT AND WONDERING IFI SHOULD OR SHOULD NOT MENTION MY ALCOHOLISM DUE TO MY DEPRESSION & ANXIETY, I HAVE BEEN THROUGH 2 RESIDENTIAL DETOXES AT CHAPMAN BARKER UNIT WHICH ARE REALLY NOT NICE PLACES TO BE, BUT I SAW THEM THROUGH BUT REVERTED BACK TO ALCOHOL, I AM WORKING WITH AN ALCOHOL SUPPORT TEAM AS I WANT TO BE PUT ON ANTABUSE WHICH STOPS ME DRINKING OR MAKES ME ILL. I HAD A HEART ATTACK APPROX 3 YEARS AGO AND HAVE TO RECORD MY BLOOD PRESSURE EVERY DAY AND SEND IT TO THE NURSE. I AM ON BISOPOLOL, CLOPIDPGREL, RANIIDINE AND RECENTLY BEEN PUT ON STATINS, MY BLOOD PRESURE IS MASSIVELY DIFFERENT IN MY LEFT ARM COMPARED TO THE RIGHT ARM, BY AT LEAST 30 POINTS. THE DRS ARE ORRIED THAT THE HIGH RESULTS ON MY RIGHT SIDE ARE DUE TO MY HEART ATTACK.

SHOULD I ADMIT MY ALCOHOL PROBLEM??? AND MY TWO ADMISSIONS TO A MENTAL HEALTH/DETOX UNIT OR WILL THIS WORK AGAINST ME. I AM TRYING I HONESTLY AM, IVE BEEN THROUGH THE MENTAL HEALTH SYSTEM 3 TIMES, BUT DURING COVID, IT BACAME 1 PHONE CALL PER WEEK, WHEN I SAID I DIDNOT FIND THIS HELPFUL, I WAS STRUCK OFF THE MENTAL HEALTH TEAM

Hi Dylanc

My thoughts are that you should mention in full all of your conditions and treatments..

Certainly someone I helped recently we did document his alcoholism and how it affected him and the mental and physical problems it causes. We included the detoxes and his struggles to abstain. He was successful in his claim.

Do mention your mental health and the support you take for that and the drinking..

You should try to get support letters if that’s possible.

It is likely that they will ask for information from your doctor whether or not you mention alcohol and equally likely that your doctor will mention alcohol so you may as well mention it.

Alcoholism is nothing to be ashamed of any more than depression or other mental problems but just like those I would urge you to try to seek help.

I wish you luck with your claim

Regards
Pete
