My friend is rightly in LCWRA. However, with a high level of support funded by Access to Work, she is hoping to build a freelance career around her health conditions/difficulties. If it works out, then in a year or so she should no longer need UC.
She's got the right support to help her with the Access to Work. But I'm worried about the benefits side. It's not a situation her job coach has met before! And the UC rules around self-employment are a nightmare in themselves even without the LCWRA factor.
Your friend needs to seek help from a specialist Welfare Rights Organisation who can take all their circumstances into consideration: advicelocal.uk
Your friend could use a benefit checker: gov.uk/benefits-calculators ... word of warning, not all benefit checkers work for claimants who are self employed so check them out first before you use them.
When going self employed you need to be aware of MIF. The Minimum Income Floor (MIF) allows the government to assume a certain level of self-employed profit, even if you don't earn that amount. www.entitledto.co.uk/help/Self-employmen...oor-Universal-Credit
