DLA to PIP - face to face interview was created by Jo
Hi,
My son who is 16, autistic and for whom I identified in the DLA to PIP claim form would not be able to cope with a face to face assessment or indeed be able to identify his needs due to being a teenager who has very little self reflection and for whom this would be extremely stressful to either be made to discuss or hear being discussed - has been sent a face to face appointment in relation to his PIP application, for 2 weeks time, when he has a performing arts assessment on that day (as well as the above).
I know he wouldn't cope but worse than that, he would become angry towards me and potentially aggressive. I don't know what to do.
I have looked on here and see that following the publishing of the Philippa Day report, I can potentially request a 'change of assessment review', but I don't know how to go about this. The review is by IAS (and I am nominated as my son's appointee).
Can you advise?
I have also seen a suggestion to look at page 89 of a publication on here in relation to this, but am afraid to spend money at the moment and I think I need about £20 to see that.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Jo
You should be able to access the information from the guide from the link I've already given you. There is no additional money for you to pay.
If you follow this link and choose the second guide you can find the information about appealing the type of assessment on page 88 - Review of your assessment type. The information there lays out exactly what you need to do.

Hi there,I was unlucky enough to be invited for a face to face..I couldn’t stand the thought of it so rang the people carrying out an assessment surprisingly, I was then offered a video assessment.Might not be the same for you but might be worth a try? Good Luck!
