Legacy Benefits & Migration to UC update was created by vic
Is this going to effect everyone on benefits & are the Dwp moving everyone on all legacy benefits to UC ?
Currently get Esa contribution based & income related , in the support group .
Also get Housing Benefit & pip .
If moved what protection would you get having been in the support group all the time when Esa was 1st introduced ,worried & stressed now .

Hi Vic
Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is.
Welcome to Benefits and Work
Yes it will affect everyone on legacy benefits, we don't know the exact details yet, although it has been mentioned claimants in receipt of tax credits will be affected first.
UC has a support group, it is called Limited Capability of Work Related Activity (LCWRA) group and the renewal form (UC50) is exactly the same as the ESA form (ESA50). If you look at our work capability assessment guide, it covers both UC50 and ESA50 forms.
HB would stop and you would have to claim the Housing Element in with your UC.
We would advise you not to cancell your ESA claim but to keep it live when applying for UC, if your ESA claim is still live then you should be placed in the LCWRA without having to go through the assessment phase.

HI Gary
Thanks for your reply
I will wait until i am eventually contacted , but how would i be able to ask to keep my Esa live while also applying for Uc & housing benefit .
I will most likely come across a bit thick , but this is all above my head & confusing

Hi Vic
Keeping your ESA live whilst claiming UC is the easy part, you don't need to do anything.
When completing the online UC claim you inform UC that you are still in receipt of ESA.
As you work your way through the UC claims form A box will ask you if you are claiming any benefits, at that point you answer yes, if it is IR ESA then DWP will close down that claim, as you stated you also get CB ESA, this will stay in payment but like most benefits what you get in one hand they will take away with the other, therefor your UC claim will reduce by the amount of your CB ESA.
