Increase for care part of PIP was created by frances
Has anybody else approached PIP just to have the standard living portion ie care of their PIP increased.
Im in quandary at 69 my mobility is far worse and I've approached my local council Adult care department for help. I only get standard living and high mobility. I wondered whether i could claim for increase on the std living as i need help. But would i have to approach PIP to reassess the whole claim? I was allotted a 10 year extension so i didn't need to go through reassessment.

The local council care has said its all financial assessment which i understand but then I'm not in control of my care, they are! To the point i would not know who was coming through my door in the morning other than it would be somebody on the rota! Im not happy with that as i then lose control, i wouldn't even know if it was one of a team of 6 ie could be a total stranger I'm not comfortable with that and would make me uneasy. Whereas if i had increase to high std living i could arrange my own care.
Advise please!

Hi frances

You can contact DWP for a change of circumstances due to a deterioration in your health, unfortunately they would assess you across the whole spectrum and not just your daily living component.

When you contact DWP you can inform them that you are already receiving the enhanced mobility and that your health has deteriorated and explain to them why you want the daily living part looked at to enable you to arrange your own care.

Before contacting DWP you need to be reasonably certain that reporting a change of circs will increase the daily living component, if you have access to a Welfare Rights Organisation, discuss it with them first, as they can support your claim. advicelocal.uk
