Dear All
I struggle with reading, processing and remembering written material. Im sure its probably somewhere in one of the guides but i cant find a clear answer.
I got 0 points for PIP and want to ask for a manditory reconsideration. Do i need to give further details on each of the points they made?
eg you say you fall over but your last serious fall was 5 years ago. (I broke my ankle)
or shall I save my further evidence for the appeal stage?
many thanks
Toni

Hi Antonia,
I always go through points at Reconsideration stage. However, have you obtained the assessment report PA4? This is a very useful thing to do, so you have an idea why DWP have said what they have. ( You can ring up for the report.)
What I tend to do is to try and group the criticisms into 4 or 5 bullet points. Find the worst examples of what you have criticised. Obvious things are rudeness, cut and paste answers, false assumptions (you can drive so you can do XYZ is a popular problem.)
Start your letter with a paragraph or two about your illness etc and a general overview of when it started, and what its effects are.
Then you can put in your assessment critique, as per above.
Lastly go through the descriptors explaining what you actually can/can't do, and explain why, giving examples. You can say what the correct points value should be.
The members guides will give you lots of information about this.
Remember all activities have to be done safely and in a reasonable time and to an acceptable standard and repeatedly across the whole day as required. If two or more descriptors in the same section apply equally, then the highest value points should be awarded.
Concerning falls, this may well come under the criteria of safety. The important thing is to consider whether the risk of harm is substantial, it doesn't matter whether it may not happen that often. Pain, breathlessness etc may indicate not reaching an acceptable standard.
Good luck with your letter. Remember that this should be sent in within 1 month of the date of the decision letter. Label each page clearly with name and NI Number.
I hope this helps.
