POINTS FOR DLA FORM was created by Summermary37@yahoo.com
I am trying to find a list of the points awarded to each bit of the DLA form. I had one on previous form but am unable to track this down anywhere. Only the points allocated for PIP which is of no help at all.

Can anyone help please.

Hi Summermary,
You may wish to change your user name so it is not an obvious email address. You can use this link. www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help
DLA doesn't have a points system. On order to get DLA you need to show either that you need help with cooking, or eg for a limited time each day .(To get low rate care) Or that you need help with care across the day or night, or both. Basically provided that you can show sufficient amount of care, which could include help with cooking, dressing, washing, communicating, seeing if blind, and supervision to stay safe etc, then you will achieve DLA care.
You will get middle rate care for showing sufficient care needs fir day or night. High rate is payable fir both day and night time care needs.
Mobility awards are made on the basis of being unable or virtually unable to walk or requiring supervision. Again there are no points. Caselaw has clarified what is required to show unable to walk etc, but again, it is not totally clear. Please have a read of the members guides about DLA.
Whilst DLA can continue in payment for people on indefinite awards, who haven't been asked to claim PIP or elderly people who received DLA before reaching state pension age, the only new claimants will be children under 16. Adults wishing to claim disability benefit will need to claim PIP. For children, you will need to show that care needs exceed that needed for a non disabled child of same age.
PIP was introduced to clarify some of the uncertainty about DLA. No one could really say how much care was sufficient to qualify, and decisions were not consistent. The rationale behind PIP, is that points are awarded on the basis that this is an easier system, and can be quantified.
I hope this helps.

Hi Summermary

DLA is not based on points. DLA is based on your care/ mobility needs, and how often you have these needs.

www.dwp.gov.uk/publications/dwp/dmg/ is the Decision Makers Guide. You need to go to Volume 10, then Chapter 61.

There is an absolute mass of information in the above, that might seem far too complex to digest. It really isn't that bad, you just need to take it bit by bit, and once you get past the first few bits, the information you need will become much easier to find.
