Pip new assessment - forgot vital detail

I had my 1st pip phone assessment yday with capita - it went reasonably well, I used notes because I have a lot of memory issues and the HP seemed polite and nice enough. I remembered to say how much help my parents provide me for all ADL but I completely forgot to say my dad had a heart attack a week ago, so obviously he can no longer help me and my mum needs to spend her energy on him. The HP gave me an opportunity at the end to add anything she hadnt covered, she even asked me twice and I completely spaced - it was 2hrs or so in and I was flagging and just wanted to lie down so I said yup thats everything! She did say "if there's anyone from my list today I will need to ring back to get more details it will be you" but no calls today. Is this something I can contact dwp to add or is it too late? TIA

Hi Sara

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum

What you need to do on Wednesday next week is contact DWP and ask for a copy of the Assessors report called a PA4.

When you have the assessment report you will have a better understanding of how the DWP Decision Maker may come to their conclusions and you will now be able to argue against them.

I usually use a highlighter to highlight any inaccuracies, there is a small window for you to write to the Decision Maker before they make their decision, but you will need to be quick pointing out any errors in the report.

Make sure that your letter makes it clear that you are not requesting a Mandatory Reconsideration but you reserve the right to do so once a Decision has been made.

When you have a better idea of the issues with your claim, come back to the forum and we will do our best to help.

I may be wrong but I don’t think that information is relevant as the assessment is based on how much help you need, not how much help you actually get. I hope your dad’s health improves - it must be a very stressful time for you all, so you did incredibly well to cope with a two hour phone call!
