Universal credit was created by Holloway
Hi, is it possible someone can give me some advice please. I am currently claiming universal credit and pip. My doctor has advised UC that I am only fit to work max 10 hours a week and 2 hours a day as I suffer from severe copd and get very breathless and fatigued. I caught covid from my work coach when I was called into their offices which has now resulted in my being diagnosed with long covid. I am trying to still work, I work from home doing reiki and reflexology and am declaring my earnings, which are deducted from my universal credit payments. I have since been advised that I may qualify to be able to earn more money before being deducted the 45% or be entitled to more money as I have limited work capability. My work coach said someone would phone me approx 2 months ago from their disability department, but to date I have heard nothing. My doctor is happy to sign me off work due to having copd and now long covid, but I don’t know what I am possibly entitled to or what to claim for. Any advice would be welcome. I am 60 this month and have worked all my life, so up to the pandemic I was never in receipt of universal credit and this is all new to me. Thank you

Hi Holloway

You are but a youngster, ;) Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum

Depending on your National Insurance, you may want to apply for NS ESA along with your UC. I would seek advice from your local Welfare Rights Organisation who will be able to take all your circumstances into consideration; you can find your local Welfare Rights Organisation to help you with advice by clicking on the link below and putting in your post code, it will then come up with a MAP with a list of agencies. advicelocal.uk .
