Tired.... was created by raindaisy
I'm a carer to OH last 28 years ..he's on DLA indefinitely, my health caught up with me 8 years ago, dx with Fibromyalgia, 3 types of Arthritis and all the rubbish that goes with it. I m tired. I'm a strong advocate for everyone , as an ex welfare rights worker, I enjoy helping, the challenge , the fight, challenging the injustice...then when it comes to fighting my own corner...I deflate, I'm tired of it all. over the years the DWp has gone from a department that was reasonable, contactable, rational and yes, yes, believe me, at times showed compassion.
It now Toxic at every turn. Since 2010 the hate and distress in my heart for this unjust department , has done two things, made me fight harder and have no fear of them...
then it comes to me.....
my PIP review is in .
My last review was sooooo toxic, they took me to the wore, phoning me the day before the Tribunal deadline and He seriously negotiating my lawful entitlement like it was something on Ebay.
I steeled up , and accepted what I considered is fair, and lawful.
the whole ordeal , sent me to a place I never want to go again. That part of personality is hidden from everyone, except my lovely husband , who is sooo ill. we both are such fighters.
in a nutshell ...please tell , the way forward with this review. I feel like just printing off all the 75 pages of the last review , and sending it to them to chew on, but since 2016, my life has closed in even further , its just naff, as much as I try , and all buckets of positivity I try to use, are empty. I m Tired. This process of survival on benefits is exhausting.
A little bit of sign posting how to deal with this review , with less stress , would be very much appreciated.
No apologies for my moaning . This is my reality of life with OH Strokes, Post stroke Central pain, heart disease, full metal jacket on his right coronary artery, his cognitive issues, that do my head in, the anxiety of avoiding blood clots, his random bleeding etc....along side this widespread Fibromyalgia, which is an evil cow tbh, obesity with spinal disease , pain , chronic fatique and dealing with depression.
I'm so tired.
thanks for letting moan here . x

And breathe....

Hi raindaisy

I am sorry thing are so tough.

These reviews are always so very stressful. The only way I can suggest to reduce the stress is the old adage “a problem shared is a problem halved”.

If you could approach a local person who could help you with the review that might help you.

You might approach Citizens advice as a starting point and they may signpost you to a local expert.

It’s a long shot but people obviously found you in the past and you helped them. Now it’s your turn to seek assistance.

Good luck and regards
Pete

Hi Raindaisy

I'm sorry that you're so exhausted and I'm glad you felt able to vent.

If you want to do as Pete suggests and find someone to help with the form - you can look for a specialist welfare adviser in your area. advicelocal.uk/

If you want to do it yourself, I suggest you look at the latest PIP guide for advice on how to fill out the form. We suggest that people write something, but you don't have to write lots of information. You can always keep referencing your previous form/additional papers. We always say there is no need to send in your previous information - but lots of members ignore this because they want to be assured that the current assessor looks at it. You have to do what feels right for you.

As you are finding life so challenging, you should put on the form - or on an additional piece of paper - ask for a paper-based assessment. I think you should not just flag your own difficulties, but also say about your husband's and that a telephone or face to face assessment would cause you 'overwhelming psychological distress'. The DWP may ignore this request, but rules have changed and you can appeal if you are not given the assessment type of your choice (twice). You can find the information in the PIP guide. A paper-based decision would lessen the stress. Be warned though, that if you have a paper-based decision, you miss out of the opportunity to explain anything they don't understand. benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip

Hope this helps. Come back if you have any further questions.

I can only understand....I have several problems including a long history of chronic fatigue syndrome. Toxic? My ESA was stopped while I was waiting for an hospital letter as I had damaged my knee and could not straighten my leg an could not walk.

Phoned my 'work coach' and politely explained why I could not attend the interview.....she blurted back 'I don't believe you live in this country!'. I had never dealt with her before, and she was seething with anger. A complete lunatic. What followed was an interesting saga lasting 4.5 years. I finally won the dispute, but I was lucky, and I was forced to find endless ways to psyche myself up. So I think I completely understand when you say 'toxic'. I wish you luck.

Procastinating..rang dwp , asked for an extension. no problem. he was very particular about phone numbers. I said I dont use landline at all, but have one, prefer mobile. said he would change my preference. as soon as I put phone down, got a withheld call, i answered straight away as i was sitting right next to it, then the caller hung up. Im not usually paranoid, but testing testing 123...lol ...I'll request a paper review the thought of sitting on the phone for 2 hours , im not i can be polite for that long! Thank you , this website is awesome, and all the work you put in , is so valuable ...i will just plod on with this not fit for purpose exercise .
