Hello

My brother has submitted his claim online and on the preparing food he he needs assistance because of his disabiity. On the opening line he has put "I cannot stand to prepare or cook a simple meal because of constant pain and considerable discomfort in my lower back safely or to an acceptable standard without the need for assistance because" I am concerned that the Health care assessor will read "without the need for assistance" and interpate it as though he does not need assistance.

We are panicing a bit about this as we have been working on this for many weeks and just noticed this when it was to late and the claim submitted.

Any advice on if this is ok or if not how to resolve this would be most appreciated.
Kind Regards

Hi Waxwing

I think his best bet is to send a corrected sheet or statement to DWP.

Make sure he clearly shows his NI number, name and date of birth in the correspondence as well as any reference number. Keep a copy.

If you are assisting your brother to cook, a letter from you stating that will be useful.

If your brother uses a perching stool or other aids then make sure these are mentioned.

Hope this helps

Regards
Pete
