Compliance Interview letter was created by jan777
I am an Appointee of my 25 yr old daughter who has eubpd bipolar depression dyspraxia anxiety depression self harms etc ..
A letter arrived addressed to her rather than me as her appointee informing of a telephone compliance interview in a few days with my telephone number as the contact.
I’ve recently applied for student finance for her for a post graduate course.
She had student finance last year and is just finishing her course.
She has an enormous amount of support from the college regarding her mental health and they’re been amazing accommodating her needs.
She’s currently receiving ESA and has been in the support group for years and receives PIP both enhanced rates.
Has anyone any advice on why they are calling for this compliance interview and why they sent the letter to her rather than me as her appointee but have listed my number they will call ?
I’ve heard there are some scam letters circulating and there is no National insurance number or mention of which benefit this interview relates to.
It also has numerous spelling mistakes throughout the letter and the address says at the bottom England then England underneath?
Luckily she hasn’t opened the letter as I have and it says to have bank account details pensions, savings information ready for the telephone interview????
Any advice will be sincerely appreciated.
Many thanks
xx

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi jan777
The first thing I would do is contact the DWP to find out what is happening as you are the appointee, it may be quite innocent and standard procedure, but as an appointee one would have assumed the letter would be sent to you.

The telephone number on the letter doesn’t come up on the internet , I don’t want to call it as I’ve only just sorted a scam I’ve stupidly fallen for regarding a text message supposedly from my bank (now I know it wasn’t)and my real.bank have blocked my account etc …
The number on the letter is :
0300 038 3057
Any advice pleeeeeease

Hi jan777
Does the compliance letter state which department it is from?
For ESA I would contact ESA enquiry line: 0800 169 0310
For PIP I would contact PIP helpline: 0800 121 4433
And ask the question as an appointee why this letter was sent to your daughter.
