pip award dates was created by ian
i believe there could be a big problem on how the DWP award PIP.
myself was awarded pip 26th Aug 2015-20th dec 2019.
the review came about and they said i will carry on getting pip. .
since the first award ends on the 20th dec 2019 you would think that the new award would start from there.
.but they now say that the new award will start from 15th july 2019-2nd may 2022.
so they have cut my original award by approx 17 weeks which means a under payment of approx £2,500.
i have written to the DWP asking why this has happened.
if this discrepency is right then everybody in receipt of pip needs to check their award dates.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Ian
I'm afraid you are mistaken - that is not how PIP works. As soon as someone has a review, they are given a new award and this is often before the end of the previous one. The DWP have the right to review at any time.

i understand that a review and then a award is givien before the current one ends.but they are not starting the new award at the end of the current one, but from the date they awarded the new one.so cutting the current claim by 17 weeks.
i asked my MP do ask the DWP about this, and have contacted the select committe for DWP.to ask the same question

Hi Ian
It will be interesting to see what response you get, but I don't believe it's a practice that will change.
