telephone work assessment was created by welshval
I have my telephone assessment for ESA/UC claim with CHD coming up on Thursday and I am terrified I have anxiety and depression, COPD/Asthma ,type 2 diabetes, hypertension, B12 deficiency and various other ailments and was classed as CEV at the height of covid I have seen a copy of the UC113 which my GP filled in and it says most of my conditions are stable even though I am having counselling sessions to cope with my current anxieties and depression and my medication for my COPD and Diabetes has increased it also leaves out any history before 2003 I feel this "evidence" willl do more harm than good as this Doctor has not seen me for some years-I despair Also will my age I will be 63 in November be taken into account? Sorry to go on a bit

Hi welshval
Welcome to the forum.
You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum
If you have a look at our PIP guide at the link below you will see at page 109 include advice on telephone assessments. Yes, a lot of the questions are those that would have been asked if you had a face to face assessment.

- Write yourself a bullet point list of any particular points you want to get over, so you have it by you during the assessment, tick them as you cover them during the assessment.
- have paper and pens to hand to make any notes such as the assessors name, date, time
- make sure you are seated in a comfortable chair, you are going to be there a while and at table to make notes
- if you can't hear or understand what is being asked then ask them to repeat the question
- don’t let the assessor rush you and get you flustered.
- don't forget to have a glass of water if needed so you don't get a dry throat and lose your voice!
Don't forget to contact DWP 48 hours after the assessment and ask for a copy of the assessors report called PA4.
Good luck for Thursday, do not take any extra medication to help you cope with your anxiety as this will go against you, if you are struggling or getting in a fluster, let them hear.

Dear welshval, the main thing I would add is please record the assessment. It's late in the day but you could try phoning them ASAP to ask them to record it. But do it yourself anyway, this way if they mistreat you you have the evidence. Hope it's not needed but better safe than sorry.
