Attendance Allowance denied was created by Peawack
A friend has been denied AA. The refusal letter states that he can ask for a mandatory reuconsideration, which he did by telephone.
The DWP advisor suggested that he supplies more new information by letter so he could be re-assesed. Is this proper procedure.
Should the mandatory reconsideration be confirmed to him in writing?
Should the reconsideration be based upon his existing claim first or should he provide more evidence ?
He has recently been assessed at hospital and might have to wait for results.
Thanks in advance,
Peter

Hi Peawack
It is not the DWP's way to confirm in writing that a claimant has put in for a Mandatory Reconsideration. Most claimants make the request over the phone and then send in why they disagree with the decision and any further information they have. If he has any more evidence he should provide it now, because it sounds as if he didn't provide enough in the first place. He could ask if there is a report on how the decision was made that he could have a copy of.
