PIP review- evidence from previous assessment

Hello, I'm currently filling in my son's PIP renewal form. The guide states "DWP guidance says the case manager “will compare the new information against the evidence from the previous assessment”.

Could I just clarify what previous assessment refers to? Would it include my original PIP form as opposed to solely the health assessor's assessment, which was wrong in many factors.? And would it take into account any changes made to my award by the DWP during a mandatory reconsideration etc?

many thanks

Hi ela67

It could be both, PA4 and PIP claim form.

I would complete the review form as if it was a new claim, when you come to the section 'any further information' I would add details 'which were wrong in many factors' in the assessors report (PA4), you need to explain why they were wrong.

Make sure that you understand the criteria that your son is being assessed against, you can put the best case forward that is possible but you won't score points if you do not meet the PIP Descriptors. Use our guide to help you: benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip

Thanks Gary for the answer and helpful guide.

If I understand it then when I write "no change" that could be in relation to what the assessor decided and put on their report as opposed to what I wrote in my original PIP application. Would it be okay then to state "No change from my original PIP application" then go onto say that he continues to have difficulty with xyz?

I'll certainly use the any further info section as you suggest thanks

Hi ela67

No change would be from what you originally said, but you should always make it clear - that is what you originally said - not where an assessor said something and it was wrong.
