Pip- Capita cancelling Vidio Assessment was created by beakie
Hi everyone
New member recently joined.....hope someone might be able to help.
As the title suggests....does anyone have any experience of cancelled apmt's with Capita?
I had to wait from October 2021 to May 2022 for a Vidio Assessment which was then cancelled, with 20mins notice and then rescheduled apm't for 2 wks time. This caused huge stress, with many days of Prep and increased aniexty as i'm sure you guys know. I have had this happen previously with a Face to Face Home Assessment, they just didn't turn up(no notification), then rescheduled.
Just wondered if anyone as had similar experience and whether this is a deliberate tactic. I am proberly being Naive......
Many thx Guys
Dave

Hi beakie
Welcome to the forum. If you want to find your way around the site - you can find FAQs here benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/general
I'm sorry that your video assessment has been cancelled. Although it is very distressing for claimants when assessments are sometimes cancelled at the last minute, but I don't think there is any evidence that this is a deliberate ploy on the part of Capita or IAS (the other provider). It's more likely they had staff sickness or didn't have any available equipment, or they didn't have a member of staff willing to take part in a video assessment.

Hi Bis,
What happens if your phone doesn't have video conferencing capabilities ?
a telephone conversation should suffice ?
regards.

Hi, more for the MODs for the backroom, just wondering given our past experience of turning up for a recorded F2F after giving due notice, and they hadn't checked any of the assessors working that day were willing, and our friend's recent ESA phone one the same, can DWP be questioned as to whether ensuring willing staff are booked when claimant requests recording is standard procedure? If it isn't it should be to avoid this disruption to claimants.

Hi Guys....thx for your replies....
Bis......yeahh. I was using a laptop, as my PC doesn't have a camera. I certainly, wouldn't have been able to use the mobile for such a call.
I guess I'm wrong to assume Professional organisatiions are competant.
The only good thing out of this is they down graded the assessment to a telephone call, which makes me feel more comfortable, but it will still be tricky having read the guide.
Many thanks for all the comments.

Hi beakie
If you have a look at our PIP guide at the link below you will see that there are a number of pages which include advice on telephone assessments. Yes, a lot of the questions are those that would have been asked if you had a face to face assessment.
benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip
- Write yourself a bullet point list of any particular points you want to get over, so you have it by you during the assessment, tick them as you cover them during the assessment.
- have paper and pens to hand to make any notes such as the assessors name, date, time
- make sure you are seated in a comfortable chair, you are going to be there a while and at table to make notes
- if you can't hear or understand what is being asked then ask them to repeat the question
- don’t let the assessor rush you and get you flustered.
- don't forget to have a glass of water if needed so you don't get a dry throat and lose your voice!
Don't forget to contact DWP 48 hours after the assessment and ask for a copy of the assessors report called PA4.
