Hi Guys
Just thought I would give some feedback on my Telephone Assessment today, which was delayed, but with which I received a Telephone call as notification.
As I had requested a Review of my Mobility only, as this was the major change(after fracturing both bones in my ankle) and I only just got standard care on 8 points, I followed advice from my advisor, who had been reassured this was possible and he completed the AR1 UI form for me. I tried twice to clarify with the assessor today what would be reviewed, and she refused to confirm, exactly and precisely, what would be assessed. I didn’t really want to push my luck any more than twice and irritate the assessor. I ended up having a full assessment of "Care and Mobility" as I suspected would happen.
On the whole, the telephone interview went reasonably well and I think I managed to avoid being tripped up, bar a few occasions. But the nature of the interview was very erratic, jumping from Med’s to Health Conditions To Budgeting to Talking to someone in a Shop and then Preparing Food. I tried to add things to her question’s and came across the familiar “We’ll get to that shortly” very often, as she seemed to want to take info out of context. I mention only being able to walk 6 metres to the car to go to the doctors and that I couldn’t drive because of my ankle, and she was insistent that at the surgery end it was more than 6mtrs and I said no it wasn’t, Disabled Space (Blue Badge Partner) was close. We then got the hypothetical question, there were several of these during the interview(which I argued were difficult to answer) with which she replied, I had to in order to get a decision on my award for PIP. She asked if it was 100mtr (Car to Surgery) could I walk this(hypothetically), I said No, Then could I with a Wheelchair, which I replied yes(I Feel this was a mistake on my part) and will probably go against me.
The interview lasted just over 2hrs and I advised the assessor the phone was on loudspeaker. I commented that I would have liked a break, but wanted to get process completed, as if I had requested a break, when it would be completed(today or tomorrow, when?). The assessor was apologetic about the length of the interview, but there was a lot to cover.
I will follow up the Telephone Assessment today, in requesting a copy of the assessment in the next 48hrs, as I believe this is good practise. I'm just so relieved it's over, but the fear and stress about the decision will soon kick in.....
I would like to thank the Team for all the information available on the site and the support offered here and I hope my experience can help others before there “Nightmare of an assessment”.
Best regards
David

Hi Beakie
Thank you very much for the comprehensive feedback. It's always good for other members to hear of the good and the bad of the assessment process.
I really hope you get a positive outcome.

Hi Guys....just a quick update
My partner had a phone call yesturday from pip, which floored me, although their have been some similair approaches mentioned on the forum.
They were verifying with her some questions about my health conditions and they told her there and then what my award was, enhanced Care/Mobilty and a lifetime award(at 64yrs of age). I had my Telephone assessment on the 6th of June so this was much sooner than I had expected. She was told the money would follow in 5 Days and naterally would be confirmed in writing.
Its been a huge relief to just get an outcome, but wasnt expecting the result I got and it as hit me for six.
Hope my sharing this good news can help others in their quest and I wish you all luck. I'm very grateful for the support on the forum and the guides that helped me prepare for my assessment.
Many thx
Dave
