PIP renewal - how much longer? was created by amandajane
Hi to all and apologies if anyone else has asked a similar question, I know there is no answer, but anyway:
My PIP renewal form was returned ahead of the deadline of 21.12.21. They have acknowledged receipt and I have phoned twice, only to be told to keep waiting, no idea of when I will be told of decision. The award was extended from June 2021 to end of Oct 2022 due to Covid.
Last time I phoned a bored-sounding bloke told me: "If we need more information from you, you will hear from us" and would not say another word.
I am wondering what this really meant: I have submitted lots of up-to-date evidence including an ESA appeal which awarded me points for mobility, which I have never actually got from PIP (my PIP award is just the lowest amount of daily living). I have now got mild visual impairment due to two detached retinas and cataract surgery which has not been very successful. I supplied recent evidence of all of this, including my optician's letter stating my visual ability.
I am wondering whether I will be asked to attend a 1:1 appointment, or have a telephone appointment, now after five months, or whether my file is in a pile saying: "For decision, no more evidence required".
Is this just wishful thinking, and does anyone have any idea how much longer I will have to wait?
Many thanks for any replies, I know nobody can tell me anything factual, but am feeling worried and frustrated.
Best wishes to all.
Amanda

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi amandajane
I'm afraid you are right "there is no answer.' Before COVID we were able to give fairly accurate timescales on how long claimants would have to wait to hear about their review forms - but now it's almost impossible because members have been reporting such varied timescales. Even when people phone the DWP some are being told eight weeks from the time the form is sent in and others are being told there is no timescale. It's frustrating but the DWP are the best people to provide you with information about what is happening.
There is no hidden meaning in what you were told. It's a standard sentence they use all the time. Occasionally people are contacted and asked for further information.
