ESA for my partner? was created by Melb100
Hello everyone.
Please can you offer advice?
So, I am currently receiving ESA ( support group) for a few years now, now my partner has been found to have Ltd capability for work and work related activity very recently (cancer, COPD, depression) We are in receipt of UC as a couple, so my ESA is rightly so deducted from the UC payment every month. However, is it correct that my partner is not entitled to any assessment phase payments while she was being assessed, nor any any other ESA payment because I already receive the ESA payment plus a premium for being in the support group? If this is correct, then she is at a loss how this is so. Please can you advise?
Thank you.
Melvin.

Hi Melb100

We cannot answer your question as we do not have enough information, your partner will have to seek help from your local Welfare Rights Organisation; you can find your local Welfare Rights Organisation to help you with advice by clicking on the link below and putting in your post code, it will then come up with a MAP with a list of agencies. advicelocal.uk .

Your partner maybe able to claim New Style ESA, if they were successful it would effect your UC claim, so seek advice before you do anything. www.gov.uk/guidance/new-style-employment-and-support-allowance
