Old ESA support group (contribution based) and Higher rate Pip

I've been awarded both Higher rates of Pip for several years, in 2017 I was awarded the " Ongoing Award" so there are no more medical Reasesments.
I am also awarded the old Contribution based ESA Suport group , I've now saved up just over 16,000 as my condition means I don't go out mutch etc.
Will sutch savings have any affect on my benefit entitlements ? I've heard some people say if you have 16,000 you loose some or all of your entitlement? Clearly at 50 years old I've another ? 30 years of saving up through no fault of my own?
My condition is Non Curable and Progressive in Nature, so unless there is a miracle of science, I retired at 45 years old on medical grounds and will not be returning to meaningfull Employment ever again.
Will I keep my old ESA ,or will it be transferd to the new one despite already having affectively being awarded a Life time Award of the old Style ESA support group .
If I will be affected? How do I avoid loosing out? Do I put money in an ISA ? etc.

Hi Mark B

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum

Your savings will not affect your contribution based ESA.

If you were in receipt of a means tested benefit such as housing benefit or council tax reduction scheme then they would be affected and would cease once you had over £16k in savings.
