DWP keep lieing was created by Jeannette
Good morning
I have a problem I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer in December 2021.
I notified universal credit giving them everything they asked for, I was told I was entitled but they wouldn't pay anything until July 2022. They also told me it would be back dated.
I have today saying I would not be entitled to the back money and they would take £200 off my money as I am a carer to my 22 year old daughter.
They are already taking £200 off my universal credit so they will be taking it twice.
To be honest I needed the money for transport to and from hospital so I have been borrowing money which means I am now in debt as I am still having treatment I just don't know what to do I am worried sick.
Regards Jeannette

Hi Jeannette
Welcome to the forum.
You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum
I had to look up stage 3 cancer; www.verywellhealth.com/stage-3-cancer-5092065
Treatment for stage 3 cancers varies according to which organ is affected. Most are harder to treat than stage 1 or 2 cancers. The prognosis or outlook for stage 3 cancer depends on many factors. Where the cancer is, how it reacts to treatment, your health, and your age can all affect the chances of recovery.
I will try and answer some of your questions from the information you have posted
Unless you have been informed that you have terminal cancer or that you are under going chemo then there is no short cut, you have to go through the normal process.
If you claim carers allowance for your daughter then this will be deducted from your UC £ for £ (£302.03 pm). You should be given an additional element with your UC called Carer Element, this will increase your UC by £168.81 pm.
If you log on to your UC a/c and look at the payment tab it will give you a breakdown on the elements you will receive, it will also give you a breakdown of the deduction from your UC.
I would advise you to seek advice from your local Welfare Rights Organisation; advicelocal.uk
