PIP review. deadline/medical evidence/extension?

My deadline to get the form sent back on time is to post it Monday.

I have got the GP report today but its got some really 'dangerous' edits to it since last time, not quite sure whats happened there. I don't think it would be wise to send it as it is. But that aint easy with the current access issues, & there is no way there's is time for me to get another telephone call with GP & them to ok some changes, for secretary to do, all by Monday afternoon. Not possible.

So... do i send the form back with a note saying GP report is on its way, & send that as off soon as i have it? which will likely be a week or 2 later (my concern with this is that if sent alone later, it may not reach the right person/reach them on time, it all sounds rather chaotic at the DWP)

OR

Ring DWP & ask for an extension as we cant finish the form on time, & then we'd hopefully be able to send it all off at the same time. (My fear with that being that the call centre may not properly record that an extension has been given, & therefore it will look like i just not complied with the review & then i will have to fight them - i'll record the call but i dont want a fight with them!)

Wondering which option is the least risky in your opinion?

Hi Cemily

By the sound of your post you are panicking, for peace of mind I would contact DWP first thing in the morning and ask for an extension.

DWP will usually give a two week extension, you need to phone early in the morning as the waiting time is much less.

Let us know how yuou get on.

Hi Cemily ,
I rang DWP for an extension for pip renewal 24 page 1043 form and spoke to a DWP call handler whom went away to ask his boss ( whilst I waited about 2-3 minutes on the phone ) and was granted a month from the 3rd July to the 3rd August . ( my pip form had to be back by 3rd July ) My reason being Citizen Advice had just rung me , with the first available appointment was going to be 12th July , having explained this to the call handler .
Plus I told him , it’ll give me more time to get a Dr.s / hospital consultant letter in support.
Citizen Advice are ringing me 12th July at 10 am for a one hour to one and a half hour’s appointment to help me fill out the pip form and advise me on what I’ve written out myself , in rough paper first .
Just saying it’s well worth ring DWP asking for an extension as Gary advises

LOL Gary you know me so well! :S :(

I was definitely panicking! After takin a sedative last night i am a bit calmer this afternoon.

Just to clarify as i wonder if in my panic i didnt explain well (sorry) & it sounds like the form wont be finished. It will be done by monday & could be posted on time if my friend helps me over the weekend.

What i meant was should we ask for an extension so that we can send the form & the new GP letter at all once. Or is it less risky to just send the form on time & then send the letter on afterwards?

So just to confirm - you still think its better to get an extension?

I just want to do the thing that carries least risk, i will have no peace of mind till its over. The thought of my PIP getting stopped because they dont make a note of the extension & then fighting with them about it sends my anxiety sky rocketting. These reviews are my nemesis psychologically they make me so unwell. So grateful to have your calm wisdom & kindness

Hi Cemily

You can send the form now with a note saying you will be sending the supporting letters at a later date when they arrive or ask for an extension and send them altogether but you then run the risk of the supporting documents not arriving when you hope they will.

What ever you decide make sure you send any correspondence by recorded delivery.
