My son is resident in a care home at the expense of the local authority. I look after his finances. He has received a payment of £326 today for the cost of living . He is in receipt of ESA which is made up partly as to contributory ESA and income based ESA top up in respect of the Disability Income Guarantee . Most of his ESA goes out in respect of his contribution to adult care leaving him with the PEA. I am not sure what to do about this payment. I have notified his local authority and his care home in case any payment is required .If you have any guidance on these circumstances , I should be grateful
The money should be used for your son, it is not for the local authority, if the Government wanted it to go to local authority they would pay them direct.
