Doctor supporting letter was created by a.abrahim
Hi,
Sorry if this has already been mentioned before, but my question is- if my doctor has written me a letter backing my claim will it work more in my favour? The dr has written in regards to mobility and that i struggle to walk 4-5 meters without it causing me great pain. This is for pip.

Hi a.abrahim
If the doctor’s letter does reflect your difficulties accurately and doesn’t underplay your problems then it should certainly help.
However, you will need to provide all the other information and evidence required too
You may want to take a look at the PIP guides here www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip
You will see on that web page it mentions “A copy of the PIP descriptors you can take to your GP to ask them to select which ones they think apply to you, add any comments and sign and date as evidence for your claim or appeal.” If your doctor’s letter will provide this then your good to go.
I hope this helps.
Regards
Pete

Hello a.abrihim
Unless you are in the fortunate situation where your 'Doctor' knows your mobility issues/restrictions personally and can describe them specifically, as per the PIP descriptors, I would strongly advise you not to rely solely on this as supporting evidence.
Using the PIP descriptors as your guide, you would be wise to supply, additional information and evidence yourself by writing down specifically, the nature of your mobility difficulties and how they impact your ability to walk. Good luck
