Hi Keith C

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum

There are a number of remedies for your situation depending on your circumstances such as Water companies social tariff, in the East Midlands Seven Trent Water have the Big Difference scheme, Anglia Water have their own and others also have a scheme.

You need to seek advice from your local Welfare Rights Organisation, who will take all your circumstances into consideration; you can find your local Welfare Rights Organisation to help you with advice by clicking on the link below and putting in your post code, it will then come up with a MAP with a list of agencies. advicelocal.uk

Hi Gary,

Cheers for the welcome.

Those tariffs are among the very ones I'm unable to get due to being on the 'wrong' ESA.

Morning. I hear what you are saying. When I was first poorly, I was housebound and could not afford internet access, so I was not able to access the likes of B&W. In the end I did have to pay for support from a well-known organisation, and was angry and upset that I had to. In retrospect though (I won after a 2.5 year battle), I was glad that I did. It’s a tough one, but it is not these organisations’ ‘fault’ that appropriate free-access support is not available. That is down to Government cuts.

I joined B&W before my last PIP renewal, and renewed again this year, as I think it is a site well worth supporting. I also paid the same previously used, well-known site, to ‘proof read’ my application, by paying a monthly subscription for maybe 3 months. This is not ideal, but I went through horrors last time (I did not use them until it got to applying to the Upper Tribunal), and this time, I prioritised my Mental Health, and got support from the start.

I will continue to support B&W, and I used to contribute quite regularly to the forum to help others (when doing my last PIP renewal I was well up on legislation etc). I am on Enhanced/ Enhanced, so CAN afford £20 a year. When pennies are tight, this IS a lot of money, but I genuinely feel it is worth the investment. The mods help everyone, and so do the other users. It also helps as we are not alone with it all. That to me is very valuable.

trip77,
Most of us I feel wouldn’t get anywhere without this site. So for me I couldn’t afford not to be a member, it is indeed a very small price to pay.

This is such a good helpful website. in my opinion you don’t charge anywhere near enough for all the help you give people. Before anyone shoots me down, I’m living off next to nothing.

Thank you moderators you are all super.

And a great job you all do as volunteers, I would have been totally lost without your input a while back now. I still pay my annual renewal to support B&W in being there to help all of the people trying to navigate the benefit system and survive the DWP x
