Child dla/pip was created by Kerrygold50
Writing on behalf of a dear friend who has had a nightmare of a couple of weeks can I please ask for advice on following…
Received transfer letter from DLA to Pip late December, forms send back from a normal post box, unfortunately.
Received letter dated 16th July can’t award pip as they didn’t receive information. She rang up put in mandatory reconsideration that she had sent forms back ( no proof), they said would send out new form.
Form received this week for a new claim, so she rang up this morning to say she was expecting proper pip form and double checked mandatory reconsideration on computer it is.
Now this is where it gets confusing, the person on phone told her they would send proper form, once she sends form back she can ring up and once they receive form, they will put DLA back into payment, while waiting for mandatory reconsideration. If this could happen it would be fantastic. As she is really struggling financially, with loss of carers, dla and extra payments on child tax credits. But I’m really worried for her because i thought once u reached 16 and applied for pip u couldn’t go back to DLA.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
And thank you for your help.
Michael

Hi Kerrygold50
Yes it does sound confusing, just before lockdown I was at a tribunal DLA hearing where the claimant was awarded DLA up until their 17th birthday.
I would advise your friend to get advice from their local Welfare Rights Organisation who can take all their personal information into consideration; you can find your local Welfare Rights Organisation to help you with advice by clicking on the link below and putting in your post code, it will then come up with a MAP with a list of agencies. advicelocal.uk
It is imperative that when ever you send any documents to the DWP that you send them by recorded delivery, as post can sometimes go missing.
