Voluntary work and ESA/UC/PIP. was created by sn5775
Hi,

I have a question regarding voluntary work whlst in receipt of ESA/UC and PIP.

I have been experiencing long term physical and mental health problems for over 20 years and I have been socially isolated for most of that time.

My support worker has suggested that some voluntary work may help me.

I am currently in receipt of long term ESA in the support group and have recently started receiving PIP daily living at the lowest rate.

I am hoping to migrate from ESA to UC soon to enable me to apply for help with rent and gain independence from my parents.

Would carrying out voluntary work cause me any problems with my ESA and PIP claims, my future UC claim and any future medical assessments, for example, are the DWP likely to suggest that if I can do voluntary work, I am fit and able to work?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Kind regards,

Steve.

Hi sn5775

There is no easy answer to your question as the rules are different between ESA and UC; www.gov.uk/government/publications/emplo...itted-work-factsheet

Benefits and Work fact sheet; benefitsandwork.co.uk/?dlp=62df28a7de278

www.entitledto.co.uk/help/Permitted-Work-Rules

You will need to speak to a Welfare Rights Organisation who can take all your circumstances into account; you can find your local Welfare Rights Organisation to help you with advice by clicking on the link below and putting in your post code, it will then come up with a MAP with a list of agencies. advicelocal.uk
