Pip renewal was created by newcastle1949
Hi everyone, hope you are all bearing up i have started a new topic as i piggy backed on another members post a week or so ago about my pip being stopped, i did not receive the AR1 form or reminder so plead my case over the phone, they agreed to send me a replacement ar1 form and give me a 4 week extension,, i was pretty distraught on the phone, so that was on the 14 July, only today i have received the new form and it has a covering letter which says if you do not return your form by 14 August your pip payment could be stopped, so i rang them and explained, i was passed from a very pleasant lady to a case manager after she explained and he took down all of the information and said he would be contacting the reconsideration team and was astounded i had been granted an extension but also my payments were stopped, his words that does not make sense!!!, he rang me back and said he has told them he thinks my pip should go back into payment, i should send the form and supporting evidence by special delivery, his words, then the review can be done, he was really helpful, considerate and fought my corner he said the reconsideration team should contact me, carer's allowance also stopped not sure what to do about that.
I have lots of consultants letters re my health issues which i will send and my GP letter and I will send a personal comprehensive letter with my AR1 form, should i get my carer to do a supporting letter or is that a bit much.
Any advice or personal experience would be greatly appreciated.
Best Wishes

Hi newcastle1949
Getting your carer to do a supporting letter is not' too much'. Get them to write whatever knowledge they have of your difficulties against the specific PIP criteria.
Just a side note - and I'm sure you have already done this, but make sure that you have notes of the conversation you had with each person just in case you need it.

If your last award was won at tribunal, your payments will stop at the award end date. The onus is also on you to phone up to ‘renew’, which is actually a ‘new claim’ (though letters are usually sent to ask if you want to continue claiming).
Just posting this incase these are your circumstances.

Hi thanks so much, will let you know how it goes, can I ask do Aids go for you or against you if you use them? just not sure whether to put them all down on the form, eg raised toilet seat, adapted cutlery, walking stick, bed frame, isotoner gloves etc, all of which have been provided by my OT and physio.
Thank you
Thank you

HI newcastle1949
It's an interesting question - because aids should never count against you, but we know that is not always the case because of how some assessors and decision makers interpret them. Yours have been prescribed, and I would mention them, but I would also say the impact. So, for instance, if you have a raised toilet seat but still have difficulty getting up, you should say so. If you have adapted cutlery, it may make some things easier, but you may continue to have difficulties eating. Only you know what impact the aids have - just be clear, or the assumption will be that everything is now hunky dory!

Hi Angel
Thanks for your message, no it wasn't, it was a simple thing of not receiving my AR1 form or reminder letter which the DWP say they have accepted as good reason and I spoke to a case manager who is recommending my claim be re-opened and has sent this to the DWP reconsideration team, i did receive the duplicate AR1 form 2 weeks after the DWP posted it!!!, just need to complete it and get it returned to them before my extended date of 14 August
